PRIEST ILL ON SUNDAY!!
NO PRIEST AVAILABLE
AT SHORT NOTICE
EUCHARISTIC SERVICE OF THE WORD (Scriptures)
The reasons for these Services in the absence of a priest
- To give thanksgiving (Eucharist) to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for the gift of eternal life they have given us.
- To strengthen our own Faith by coming together in prayer, listening to the Word of God and sharing in the Body of Christ in Communion
- By our Public Act of Worship to help others to find the same gift of Love and Life that lasts forever.
It is planned that the format of the Service will be used at the Sunday Masses 21 July ( the priest will still read the Gospel, give the homily and say the Eucharistic Prayer) to let you see how similar it is with the usual Sunday Mass and the Eucharistic Services used during the week when I am away.
Three teams of volunteers have agreed that they will be on standby each Sunday just in case. Hopefully Norovirus (vomiting bug) will bypass Holy Souls.
Pope Francis launches inquiry
Into the Vatican bank
Pope Pius XII set up the Vatican Bank during World War 2 in 1942. There was money given to the Church for Charitable purposes in various bank accounts in different countries. Unfortunately the money could not be given to the poor and needy as the money was in a bank of a country that was at war with the country where the money was needed. Something had to be done to get the money to where it was needed. A neutral bank was established. The Pope had diplomatic relations with all the countries at war so A Vatican Bank became a natural conduit for the money to get to where it was needed. Reading the history I think that the Pope saw it only as a temporary measure, but like many temporary measures they have a bad habit of becoming permanent. It would seem to have become an end in itself.
A Vatican official has been arrested and placed under investigation for money laundering.
